1. What are the main things Numa was believed to have introduced?

Religion and civilisation.

He was appointed to end civil strife after the death of Romulus, when the Senate took power. He had a reputation for piety and justice.

3. In terms of his religious policies, what other factors may have influenced the development of Roman religious beliefs and rituals?

There would have been some influence from the surrounding peoples (Greeks and Etruscans).

4. How was Numa compared to Romulus?

Romulus was supposed to have represented the martial side of Roman culture, whilst Numa brings art and religion.

5. Does archaeology support the literary accounts of Numa?

Not completely. Some archaeology suggests urbanisation happening during this period, but in other cases, some of Numa’s actions seem to have been anachronistic.
