There is no evidence for these accounts, but they demonstrate how, in the absence of such evidence, the Romans desired to construct a cohesive narrative about their origins. We would categorise these accounts as myths not history. As Livy mentioned in his preface, he cannot check whether these are true facts, but they are good stories that reflect well on early proto-Roman civilisation, so he is happy to include them. All the accounts differ in their information. Whether this is because they have read different material as their sources, or they have changed material for dramatic purposes (certainly Virgil), we should recognise these accounts as NOT being history.
